Spanish Holiday: Famous Beaches

By Devon Jenkins at 2012-08-17 06:55:37
With more than 6000 miles of beautiful coastline, year-long sunshine, lots of water-sports activities or just places to relax and lounge in, delicious food and wine and great entertainment, Spain's beaches are world-famous. Visitors from all over the world and from within Spain itself flock to the beaches during vacations, so it's a good idea to plan ahead and book your accommodation and tours if you don't want to be disappointed.

Some fabulous beach destinations in Spain, away from the tourist hubs, are:

San Sebastian: The La Concha Beach is famed for being one of the best city beaches in Spain. San Sebastian is also a lively city, with interesting historical features, great tapas bars and exciting night-life. It is also situated close to Pamplona, which is famous for the Bull Run of San Fermin. If you plan your beach holiday to coincide with this festival which takes place in July, you can combine water-sports, leisure and great cultural aspects.

Playa de las Catedrales, Galicia: This National Monument designated beach is famous for its stunning landscape, with natural arch formations, mysterious caves, scenic cliffs which can be seen only when the tide is out. Otherwise, this small beach, close to the Galician towns of Ribadeio and Foz, doesn't offer too many sunny days, but is still worth a visit.

Playa del Silencio: Far from hectic entertainment centers, this quiet beach in the Asturias province in western Spain, is a charming, quiet and secluded place, ideal for those who want to relax. There are many fishing villages nearby, where you can get fresh seafood and local wines and cuisine.

Formentera: If you're averse to touristy places like Ibiza, Majorca and Minorca, Formentera is one of the most delightful of the Baleriac Islands. Sparkling white sands and clear waters make this island and its beaches very attractive. Day trips can also be organized from Ibiza, and this is a popular stopover for yachts.

Sitges: Situated very close to Barcelona, this town is famous for its film festival, carnivals, historical sites, art and culture. Several beaches here are Blue Flag-designated. It is also popular for its alternate cultures.

Costa del Sol: on the Mediterranean coast, this sunshine coast is world-famous for its ancient historical towns, quaint fishing villages, bright, sunny beaches and luxury resorts. Towns like Marbella and Malaga are great places to spot the rich and famous.

La Barrosa, Cadiz: One of the largest beaches in Spain, La Barrosa has nearly 10 km of gorgeous white sand and crystal-clear waters. The beach has a lively, busy area and a quiet, secluded section, which make it perfect for a family holiday. The Blue Flag ensures that tourist facilities are top-class.

Tarifa: For bird-watching and marine enthusiasts, villa spanje, Tarifa offers great viewing opportunities. This windy beach offers great water-sports and adventure-sports, whale-viewing, diving, snorkeling and also a lively entertainment center for after-hours.

Spain offers numerous opportunities and villas lloret de mar you select for all popular regional vacation : Costa Blanca , Costa Maresme , the most beautiful destinations in Spain . And here you can read my articles on Devon Jenkins Articles and my bookmarks on Devon Jenkins Bookmarks .
